Cheers for that.

What replacement motherboard did you get?  Was there any issues with any of the connectors and whatnot?

I am also experiencing the same problem. I uninstalled an Intel driver update and a few other programs-all was good.I was attempting to wipe the hard drive through the built in utility and got a wdf violation, so it didn't change anything. Then the  Computer restarted, then did Wndows update and now have blank screen and the same as everyone else. Both fans come on and sounds like hdd spins, then nothing else. No screen, keyboard or mouse response. I've done all the HP troubleshooting, removed CMOS bayyery, jumped the CMOS (got the blue power light to come back on), but nothing else. Computer originally had Wim 8.0 and got the 'free' Win 10 upgrade.  It's Slimline s5-1554. Motherboard is Joshua-H61-uATX.

If I replace the motherboard will I have the option to NOT upgrade to Win 10 again? Seems like Win 10 is the issue with it wanting to modify stuff that can't handle it.  Where's the best and cheepest place to get a motherboard? I have already purchased the recovery disks from HP because I thought that was the problem. The hard drive won't even read the disks as nothing, and I mean nothing comes up.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I've spend 3 days with this and really need a path forward. Don't know if the local shop can do anything or if I should go motherboard route or just get a new computer. I have a 1 TB hard drive and I'm sure all my info is still on it.

Thanks!

Ran into the same problem with p7-1380t upgrading to Win 10. Had issues with USB ports and resarted. IT worked fine at first. Then ran windows updates and now it's dead. Would love to hear if anyone has a fix for this.

My computer http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?DocLang=it&docId=emr_na-c03564232&docLocale=it_IT with this motherboard http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docLocale=null&docId=emr_na-c03135925

I inherited from my son the Windows 10 PC with installed I tried to format it and install Windows 7 and then back to Windows 8 using the recovery discs. After turning off the PC is not turned on again. After several attempts to power fruitless I removed the battery, I removed the power cord, I held the power button down for 20 seconds and moved from 1-2 to 2-3 jumper to clear the CMOS then bringing it back to its original position 1-2. I started to hold down the power button and restart your PC over and over without the battery throughout the morning (even removing the SATA cable and the HD DVD and video card) until you are on for a moment the light of keyboard. I then reinserted the SATA cables and the video card and I continued to "mistreat" the power button when finally the PC is turned on (always without the battery from 3v). Without turning off the PC went on this page http://support.hp.com/it-it/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-p6-2300-Desktop-PC-series/5295969/model/... and using the HP Assistant download and installation (not directly) I downloaded the bios version 8.20 Rev.A 3.7 MB 30 April 2016 to 64 bits which corresponds to sp70376.exe

Updated the bios from that hour the PC switches on and off regularly and I even reinstalled Windows 10 works well. I think the mother-Joshua H-H61-uATX board also needs of other pc bios version 8.20 Rev.A 3.7 MB April 30, 2016 download as mentioned by http://support.hp.com/it-it/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-p6-2300-Desktop-PC-series/5295969/model/... If you are lucky enough to make the turn Pc (try several times without the battery and resetting the CMOS with the jumper) does not turn off and updated the bios.

Has anyone found the solution to this problem that it seems everyone that owns a HP and upgraded to WIN 10 is suffering from.

I have a Pavilion 500 PC and upgraded from 8 to 10 and not even a day of joy when it decided to die and I've been trying to resurected ever since.

The CLEAR-CMOS and CLEAR PASS pins are wrongly depicted on the description of the mother board from the HP site the jumpers appear to be connecting pins 1 and 2 for CLR-CMOS and 3 and 4 for CLR-PASS and in reality on the motherboard are 1 and 3 for CLR-CMOS and 2 and 4 for CLR-PASS, now there is another sets of pins of which I cannot find any indications what so ever and it seem they may hold a clue of how to solve this problem, the pins are label BIOS-RECOVERY, thats is a header of 8 pins with one of them removed and a jumper shorting the last pair close to the edge of the PCB.

Please help us with this, I need to get this running ASAP for my children schooling and Uni.

Thanks to all

Sam

Sadly I was in the same position as you.  I was trying to remedy the same problem for a friend of mine.

Like you I also found that there the pin configuration data is incorrect or simply missing.  The manufacturer of the MB (some place in the Far East, I forget now) was not able to help.  And anyway it is not sure that this is the area of fault we are experiencing, but may be.

HP support were next to useless. HP US asked HP UK to help, initially I thought I would get some real help, but only to discover that HP UK wanted me sign up to their expensive support options before even looking at this.  Their costs would far outweigh a new MB etc.

There are too many cases of people having failed Joshua MBs when upgrading to Windows 10.  I can only speculate as to the motives of HP not wanting to address this as THEIR issue.

I recovered all my friend’s data, luckily she had a note book she could use in the meantime.

Her HP remains dead, now waiting for me to get a new MB and do a transplant.

Sorry I do not give any positive news.
