After Win 7 updates, DVD RW AD-7701H driver corrupt in registry

I had the above issue with my probook 4520s after Windows 7 did updates.  A google search led me to a fix which worked first time.

Here is the link:  http://support.microsoft.com/fixit

It is a program from Microsoft that fixed the issue in less than 10 mins

Re: After Win 7 updates, DVD RW AD-7701H driver corrupt in registry

I encounter the registry updates several days ago and not my dvd/cd rom is not recognized in my computer.  I went to Microsoft Fix It site as you suggested and I used the fix for the cd rom was not recognized and it was unable to fix the problem.  Which fix did you use, so maybe it will work for me? Thanks

Scroll down in section 3 and pick the one that says

Fix problems with CD or DVD drives that can't read or write media

It fixed a corrupted driver for me today.

Re: After Win 7 updates, DVD RW AD-7701H driver corrupt in registry

I too have just had this on my HP Pavillion.

My DVD RW AD-7701H drive had been working fine, then got a yellow triange in device manager, and reported the registry values were incorrect.

Go to

http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php

and download the appropriate driver update and run it.

Works fine for me.

cheers, Beau
