Burned DVD bottom half green from .avi videos

Hi, I have Vista, Pavillion a1700n and use Windows Movie Maker and DVD Maker. No problems in the past but I now have a new video camera. These are .avi  files. Went through a whole lot with Microsoft and codecs to get them to work. Files play fine but when burned the bottom half is green. Old videos burn fine. I use DVD +R. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Burned DVD bottom half green from .avi videos

Hi,

Try downloading and installing Avi2Dvd.  This is a freeware application, but works very well for what you require.  If you have any questions regarding this, please let me know.

Re: Burned DVD bottom half green from .avi videos

I was able to convert the file to WMV 1 Windows 7 but it would not import to the DVD Maker. So I then tried several different output formats and they all failed.Maybe I am trying the wrong ones if you have any suggestions I already tried: WMV 2  Windows 8, MPEG 1 system format Mpeg, MPEG VCD, WAV and MOV

Re: Burned DVD bottom half green from .avi videos

Forgot to mention that I am trying to convert video files that are already in my computer. Should I somehow be converting as I load them in? I've been making DVD's for a long time but never had to convert before so this is all new to me. Thanks

Hi,

When you convert and Avi file using Avi2Dvd, you should find that it creates an ISO file ( sometimes called a Disc Image file ).  This can be burnt directly to a DVD using the correct software such as ImgBurn.

When you load Avi2Dvd, make sure in Step1, you select Avi Mode and then load the Avi movie you wish to convert.  In Step 2 Make sure that Output is set to 'DVD or SVCD' and make sure that there is a tick in the box next to Make ISO.  In Step 3, select QuEnc as the encoder.
