CD/DVD times out after 1min using vista 64bit on m8300f

plays for 1 min 3 sec and then comes up with an error can't read etc.  have upgraded all drivers and still nothing.  This is with windows media player.  Have tried other players and same thing.

I have a similar problem with my Pavilion m8200n using vista.  My disc will play about half of the first song, then skip to the second song and play a few seconds, and then just skip all the rest of the songs or produces error message you described. 

 

I've tried Windows Media Player, Nero, and  couple of other players.  All have the same problem.  I even purchased a brand new Pextor CD/DVD drive, but the same thing happens with the new drive.  I've tried brand new CDs and old CDs.  So it doesn't seem like the discs or the drives are the problem.  It's got to be something with the computer or vista.
