CD writer will not write

Recently my 2  cd dvd stopped writing, after messing around with DRIVER WIZ, had to do a total recovery. I know very little about computers, after installing windows, all the updates, I still can't write on either drive. Any suggestions other than seeking professional help?

Depending on just what the desired result, try CDBurnerXP.  This is a free app that should give the ability to write either CD or DVD's if the burning is working. See here: http://download.cnet.com/CDBurnerXP/3000-2646_4-10409086.html
