Computer freezes when burning dvd image

Hello folks!  Hope you can advise as to my ongoing problem....

I have an Media Center PC m8075a
Intel Pentium D CPU 3.20GHz 3.20GHz
32bit operating system
Operating on a Windows Vista Home Premium
Service Pack 2 v.286

The problem: I have wasted a lot of DVD disks because it freezes sometimes when I burn DVD images. It encodes alright, but when burning a dvd img it freezes and I have to pause/stop to restart the computer every time it happens.  It goes alright with data and music cds.

I have tried various brands of DVDS, and the same thing happens no matter what the brand is.

I have tried different codecs, still the same thing happens.

I have updated the Firmware TS-H653L (514), and still the same thing happens. 

I have freshly installed a couple of times, it goes alright at first before it plays up again.

I am using Roxio My DVD 9, and Img Burn.

Please do not try anything while the disk is burning as the CPU usage would go upto 90-100 %, so its better do not try any other application or accessing anything else in the computer and leave it to complete the burning process.
