DVD Writer in Media Center reads data CD's & Movie DVD's but not a software setup DVD

I have a Media Center m1050y PJ697AV that I had to restore with HP restore CD after c: drive failed & was replaced. 

 

The E:\ drive, an HP DVD Writer 630c will play a DVD movie, reads data CD's but won't read a Norton 360 installation DVD.  Explorer doesn't show any files on E: when a data DVD is inserted. 

Also, F: drive, a Samsung DVDRom SD616-E won't read anything, Explorer prompts "Please insert a disk into drive F" whether I put in a Movie, data CD or data DVD.

 

Both drives worked before replacing the hard drive and doing the restore.  Strangest is that the HP DVD Writer will read a CD or DVD move but not a data DVD.  I'd REALLY appreciate any suggestions.

PS to request above:  I'm sure the setup DVD is good, because I used it afterwards to install Norton 360 to my wife's PC - it's a 3 machine license.
