Having problems with my DVD Writer and i want to go back to the initial driver and start over. I have the latest update from hp but it hasnt fixed the problem.
The writer isn't writing on the cd, it says that it is but nothing shows when I try to view the files afterwards. I have a M7300e Media center PC ver. 2002 running XP with Service Pack 3. The DVD Writer is an HP DVD Writer 840b with a AMD 64 Processor and 3 gig of ram and 176 Gig of free space on the hard drive. The dvd drive may just have gone bad, but i want to salvage it if i can.

Removing Upper and Lower Filters
Start > type "regedit" in the Start Search box, and then click "regedit" in the Programs list.
Locate, and then click the following registry subkey:
right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete.
right-click LowerFilters, and then click Delete.
Start, Right click on Computer and go to Manage, then in Computer Management, click Device Manager
the "+" next to DVD/CDROM Drives and Right Click and Uninstall the Driver
and check "Delete the driver software for this device" and click Uninstall
Restart and Test the Drive ...
