Re: HP Laptop zv5454rs

I did this and the issues were found are. Drive is not capable of burning, install a CD/DVD Writer. Thats odd being that I've been writing CD's and DVD's for 5 years with this unit. It reads all formats as well. I have a external CD/DVD and it does the same thing?????

Re: HP Laptop zv5454rs

Hi,

From the Start Menu, click All Programs, click Accessories and then click on the Command Prompt.  Into the prompt type the following and hit return.

sfc /scannow                              ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )

Let the process complete and then reboot the PC.

Open windows Device Manager.  Click to open the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.  Right click on the first channel and select uninstall.  Do not delete drivers if asked.  When uninstalled repeat the process for each channel.  Also if an ATA controller is listed, right click and uninstall this.  Again, do not delete drivers if asked.

Next click to open DVD/CD-ROM Drives.  If your optical drive appears here, right click and select uninstall.  Do not delete drivers if asked.

Restart your PC and let Windows re-install these devices.  Give it a minute or two, then see if the drive is working.

Let me know how it goes.

Best wishes,

DP-K

Re: HP Laptop zv5454rs

Thanks for the info unfortunatly this didn't work either. I have downloaded some free software that lets me copy but not really how I want to fix the problem. This is what the error box shows when I try to copy a file to CD Drive. Just a note my CD/DVD Writer was writing and reading all formats.

CD Writing Wizard

Insert a writable disc to continue

There is no disc in the drive.

Please insert a writable CD into drive D:\.

Note: A writable CD is a compact disc that can be converted to a
conventional or audio CD by a CD recording drive (CD-R or CD-RW). After
being recorded, the CD is capable of being used in any computer CD-ROM
drive or audio CD player.

Re: HP Laptop zv5454rs

Hi,

Download and install ImgBurn on the link below.

http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

Use this to look at the info on your drive, especially whether it sees your drive as able to burn CDs.  If it shows that you should be able to, try burning a CD with this software.

Best wishes,

Re: HP Laptop zv5454rs

Hi,

Go to My Computer, right click on the CD/DVD drive and select properties.  Click on the Recording tab and make sure there is a tick in the box next to 'Enable CD Recording on this Device'.  If there is not, click the box to enter a tick and click apply to make the change.  Reboot the PC and see if the problem is resolved.

Best wishes,
