How to use sp54782.exe which is HP Vision Diagnostics CD Image 2.12.2 Rev A.

I have downloaded sp54782.exe which is HP Vision Diagnostics CD Image 2.12.2 Rev A. The download page says it is a bootable ISO image when in fact it is an executable file. When run, this file says to please wait... update in progress then it just stops. Where is the ISO image? Does it actually do anything? I have a HP Pro 3000SFF.

I think it will create the cd if you have one in the CD/DVD drive before running the exe.

Thanks for the reply Cheryl. That's what I thought too. I put a CD in my DVD drive but it didn't write anything to it. I am trying to do this on a non HP computer, not that that should make any difference. It seems to sit there doing stuff for a while, the HDD light stays on as if something is being written to it and then says update has completed. You click ok and that's it. Very strange. Have you downloaded it and tried it?

I am downloading it now to test. My machine is an HP and has a link in the Start menu under  PC Help and Tools for a utilty to create the cd so have never used the download. Actually have never used it to create a cd either, but it is an exe_'disccreation.exe'.

I downloaded and ran the file.It updated my version already installed and then offered to burn the cd. If the exe did not install a shortcut in your Start,All programs menu, look in C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Vision Hardware Diagnostics\DiscCreation for the file disccreation.exe.

I ran the software on my HP Pro 3000 SFF under Win Server 2008 R2 and still the same result. No shortcuts or folders as you described in the previous post. I did a search for disccreation.exe and Hewlett which came up empty. I really don't know what is going on here.

Hope you can get ISO file now.

To get ISO file from sp54782.exe, you need to extract the file by unzip tool such as 7ZIP, WinZip.

For example with 7-ZIP tool, right click SP54782.exe then extract to "SP54782\".

Then you may find ISO file under "SP54782\src\", like this figure. (sorry I use Japanese, but you can understand what I say.)

I found the answer!! I tried a few times to just run the executable but it always seemed to fail. Then I found that the executable is trying to create an ISO here: C:\swsetup\ISOs\.  My computer already had this folder and an older version of Vision Diagnostics.ISO within it. I renamed the swsetup folder to swsetupALT (I didn't have any other files in the swsetup folder so it didn't matter to me, you may want to just rename the ISOs folder). Then I was able to run the executable and it created a new C:\swsetup\ISOs folder for me. I was then able to burn the ISO disc without a problem
