Re: No sound on DVD Movies

The computer did find the driver and reinstall it.  However, I now not only don't have sound on CDs and DVDs ~ I don't seem to have sound on games or normal computer sounds.  I'm going to check my Sounds in Control Panel and see if it tells me anything. Patti

Re: No sound on DVD Movies

Good idea,

Check anything that may be muting the volume whether in control panel or to the right of the taskbar.

I'll try to think of something else to try and get back to you tomorrow.

Goodluck,DP-K

Re: No sound on DVD Movies

Good Morning!!!!  We did that yesterday.  However, when I did it today, I got music from my CD.  Some details that may help.  I do not have any external speakers.  Mine are rear facing built in to my HDMI monitor.  So, when I go to the Fixit ~ and choose speakers as my default ~  it tells me they are not there.  When I choose my monitor as default ~ I have computer sounds AND I could hear my CD today.  Now for the real puzzle!!!  When I switched to a DVD ~ one I've played many times ~ I heard my little speaker "pop" sound ~ had no sound on the DVD ~ switched to the CD ~ had no sound on that!  Re set everything again~ I've got computer sounds and music ~ still no DVD sound!  What's going on????  Thanks again for hanging in here with me!  Patti

Re: No sound on DVD Movies

While I was waiting to hear from you this morning after my last post, I decided to explore everything we had talked about , again.  When I opened my playback devices ~ there were 2 boxes checked in the Exclusive Use box.  I unchecked them ~ saved the change ~ tried a DVD ~ AND I HAVE SOUND!!!!!!!!  I think in trying to solve the problem and returning to defaults ~ these somehow were altered.  You will never know how very much I appreciate all your patient help!!  You've taught me so much in the process!!!  You've directed me to trouble shooting sites and processes I never knew existed!!!  If I ever have another glitch ~ and I'm sure I will ~  I do hope you're there to help!!  YOU ARE GREAT!!!!!!  Thank you SO much for all you've done!!!  Grandma Patti

Hi GrandmaPatti,

I'm really pleased that your problem is solved and you now have sound!!!!!!!

Most of the credit should go to you, as in the end you found the problem and fixed it yourself.

If I can be of any help in the future, please don't hesitate to ask.

My best wishes as always,

DP-K
