Software for burning Lightscribe labels?

When I purchased an HP dvd1040 Lightscribe Drive for my previous system, a copy of Nero Essentials was included. When I upgraded to version 7, I could not find an option to make a Lightscribe label.

Nero software has turned out to be difficult to get installed proeprly and there is no free support. In fact, their support has not been very good at all. It has all been about upgrading and spending more money for bloatware.

Can anyone recommend some labelling software with more than just elementary features (such as what was included with my HP a6700f computer)?

The HP Lightscribe site provides free software...

Re: Software for burning Lightscribe labels?

The HP version of LightScribe Tool Box is not very full-featured.

However, I did find the full-featured version of LSTB online for only $17.00US for the downloaded version.  It is intended for LightScribe labels in particular and gives a lot of options for graphics.

I highly recommend it and you can find it at www.lightscribetoolbox.com.

Re: Software for burning Lightscribe labels?

[ Edited ]

I have tried to reinstall Lightscribe, downloading the latest HP version after upgrading from Vista to Windows 7.

It won't run, saying that I am missing MFC71U.DLL.  It tells me to reinstall the program.  So, I have downloaded it again and reinstalled it repeatedly with the same result.

Any suggestions would be helpful..

Re: Software for burning Lightscribe labels?

First, go to www.lightscribe.com for their troubleshooting suggestions and software, might help. Go to Microsoft for missing *.dll and copy it into your system 32 or wherever it belongs. Lightscribe is just an application for some HP writers, lightscribe websight should provide answers for problem areas. As I see it, HP does not control the content or operation of lightscribe as some believe.

Re: Software for burning Lightscribe labels?

The Lightscribe.com website is no longer in use.

Are there any HP supplied versions of software that can be used?
