Unable to instal new HP Lightscribe dvd writer 1270i.

Running Pavilion a6740a on VIsta Premium, two years old and with a preinstalled lightscribe writer HP 1270d which gave up the ghost.

I decided to install a similar HP dvd lightscribe writer this time a 1270i, so the the original was removed and the new writer installed. as this came with Nero8 Essentials this is where the fun and games started.

After uninstalling the original Cyberlink Power software my Pc would not allow me to download the new Nero software, the answer may lie in the fact that the HP1270d is embedded within the HP software system and will continually reinstall itself and not the new writer.

Also doing a check it appears that the VxD Loader is either damaged or missing, possibly when removing the old software.

None of the solutions on this forum appear to fit the problem a few were attempted none worked.

Help required please.

Hi, 

I see that CD/DVD Drive probably displays Code 19 in Device manager under Device Status. 

This issue happens if the CD/DVD Drive Registry Filters are corrupt after installing or uninstalling any CD/DVD burning or Multimedia Software with CD/DVD Burning capability. 

We need to follow the steps given below to fix this issue. 

Click Start->type DEVMGMT.MSC in Search Field and Press enter. Go to CD/DVD Drives category, right click on the CD/DVD Drive name  and click Uninstall.

Click on the URL given below.

http://www.onecomputerguy.com/reg/cd_restore.reg 

Click Run, and click Yes to add the file to Registry. Click Action tab above on Device Manager Window, and click Scan for hardware changes. 

Now, install Nero, and check to see if it works.
