cyberlink dvd burning

Hi there. I need a bit of help with something. I have a dvd movie that someone made for me. Its a compilation of photos and music of family moments. Im trying to make copies of it on Cyberlink DVD Suite Deluxe and I am stumped as to how to do so. I insert the DVD and open Cyberlink. When I try clicking on burn dvd it wont let me do anything. And Im scared of burning over the dvd as this is the only copy we have and it is very sentimental to us. Oh and I have a HP Laptop with Windows Vista. Can anyone please help me in trying to make copies of this dvd?

Re: cyberlink dvd burning

I do not have your DVD software "Cyberlink DVD Suite Deluxe" so the advice I have would be to try a different software.  Since you are using a laptop presumably with only one DVD drive, you will need to copy the information on the DVD to your harddrive first and then remove the DVD and with replace it with a blank media.  "Imgburn" can do both read and write the info for you.  Google for that program.  It is free and does a very good job.  You can read the guides for how to use it but the easiest way to copy an unprotected DVD is to pick "Create Image file from disc" and pick the DVD as the source.  Then when it is done reading the info, pick "Write Image file to disc" after you place the blank DVD in the drive and pick the image file it just created.

Re: cyberlink dvd burning

I also have Cyberlink DVD Deluxe Suite. If you open the cyberlink program you can choose a number of options. If yopu go to the icon at the top that says you can burn a data DVD and opoen that, it opens a window that has a toolbar at the top that has the word "burning". If you click on that it gives the option of "copy disc" If you select that it gives you the  window you need to copy the source disc and then burn it to a blank disc. I know it seems the long way around but it should do what you want. You could alternatively click on the "New Task"heading and that opens the Power 2Go window which also has the copy disc function. To me the program interface seems convoluted but once you play around with it you can do a lot.
