dvd stopped working

windows 7 on laptop. allowed automatic upgrade, now dvd stopped working! I am no computer weinie. I do not want to send in my computer again. I have computer under warrentee. I am furious! DVD was just fine. After  auto upgrade stopped working. I have no clue what happened do I restore to previous point in time. Horrible mess
