lightscribe dvd super multi drive cd writer not working

ok so i put in a cd like call of duty to install but nothing happens i tried to fix and i went to device manager and noticed there wasent even a cd/devrom device detected on it is there a way i can install like a driver so it detects it or any wya anyone thinks they can help plz???

 Download XP_CD-DVD-Fix.zip and save this file to your hard drive. Navigate to where you saved it and double click the file to extract the contents. Locate the EXE file you extracted and double click it.  A confirmation dialog will appear when the script is done.  You may need to reboot for the change to take effect.

Works in XP and Vista.

it doesnt detect lightscribe dvd drive.

Hi.  I also have the lightscribe dvd-rw original poster has and I tried your download "FIXIT" rebooted and still nothing. 

I need to add, I also added another HP DVD-RW in the "Expansion Bay" from another HP computer I own--on this HP Pavilion a1613w computer and it isn't being recognized either.  I also went to  "Device Dr." and it showed I needed to update 26 drivers and I did all that too.  Still nothing.

If you have another idea, I could sure use some help!

 If you have a Lightscribe drive and normal operations work then try this Lightscribe update.

Hi I have Win 7 Home Premium. Computer did not recognise dvd drive. Microsoft FixIt did not work....

I ended up calling HP and got these instructions. This worked on my HP G61 Laptop. It may help others....

Start, enter regedit in search bar,

Open regedit

Left hand menus click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CURRENT CONTROL SET

CONTROL

CLASS

Then need to find  {4D36E965-E325........... (are more figures but not needed)

on right hand window see if there is an upper filter or lower filter.....right click and delete the values if either are there.

RESTART...

After this dvd was recognised in My Computer..... 

I hope this may help...

The file download I posted above should also work in W7 since it works in Vista & XP. Only difference might be to right click the exe file and choose Run as Administrator. Reboot after running the file.
