If it is in warranty.. call/email/chat HP and they will send you a new adapter? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/contacthp?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3422491

Re: liteon power cord for external super multidvd writer model dvd1040e

i want to say thanks again to masterblaster i looked at the adapter you have given me a link to and there may be a problem but i am not sure.i looked on my dvd burner and the power requirments are a little diffrent the dvd burner says it is DC 5V/12V 1.5A and the one you are showing me is 5v/2.5a the other power outputs look like they line up. i just dont want to plug this in and have it burn the burner up i will look over the sight and see if there is an addapter that fits the power put puts of my burner.if masterblaster can send me one more message and let me know if the addapter will work on my burrner that would be great. by the way i sent hp another e mail and again no response.i dont know if you work for hp if you do you desirve a rase for going through all these messages and comming up with the answers that people like me need.

Re: liteon power cord for external super multidvd writer model dvd1040e

Thanks for the nice words. I think most everyone in the world needs a raise these days :smileyhappy:

I didn't know what the voltage and amp ratings when I gave you the link.. so I don't think that one will work.

When I searched the Internet for adapter and DVD1040e there were other sites that pointed to the PCHub site. That tells me they probably have it. There should be an HP part number printer on the label on the underside of the adapter... something like ... c4357-61210. If you search PCHub, ebay, or the Internet using that part number, you'll probably find one.

Re: liteon power cord for external super multidvd writer model dvd1040e

Same thing happened to me about 2 years ago. I gave up searching and then tried this on the off chance today. The power cord is the most universally non-standard component ever produced. It makes the Betamax video recorder look like industry standard. Why did HP use such a rare part - unbelievable!!

Re: liteon power cord for external super multidvd writer model dvd1040e

i have an HP SUPER MULTI DVD WRITER Model Number: DVD1040 R and i have a slight predicament with it. I lost the power cord to it and i need another but have no clue where to start looking for one can anyone help me out with this problem. It was manufactured July of 2008 and the complete model number is: DVD1040E-4H12, and i am needing a power supply with 3 prongs on the left and 2 prongs on the right with the center prong. It must have the power rating for the Power Supply of: DC: 5 V. 1.5 A AND 12 V. 1.5 A. Round plug
