I just figured out that the coin battery in my Blackbird Dedication edition needed replacement.  I had been assuming it was a bad mobo, but sometimes the simplest solutions are the best.  The symptoms were unstable rebooting, apparently corrupted CMOS settings, etc.

 

Anyway, for those who experience failure to boot and seemingly corrupted BIOS, a simple battery replacement is worth a try.  In one of the Blackbird manuals, it says a 7-year battery life is to be expected, but YMMV, I'm sure.

 

Now if HP would only sell a Blackbird or Omen replacement!!!  Or at least a PC with more than 2 hard drive slots.  An Xeon-powered workstation doesn't appeal to me - never did understand that submarket.

after replacing the cmos battery try updating your bios.  :smileyhappy:
