Success with the older version.  No fail message, but now I have no sound lol.  Nevermind got it sorted out.  I don't get it, is Sli an antiquated device?  Why no support?

Re: HP Firebird 802 Drivers

Sli isn't antiquated at all, but our computers are. They're pretty rare, and extremely specialized by HP (who has terrible support solutions). Just how it is.

Re: HP Firebird 802 Drivers

Did they add FB802 support for those drivers?

The GeForce 9800 S GPU's Hardware ID is still missing from the most recent GeForce 290.53 Driver Beta Installer. I edited the NV_DISP.INF Display Information file to include the 9800 S GPU again. The 290.53 driver itself does work at least as well as the 266.58 driver on both Windows 7 and Vista on my Firebirds but the NVIDIA Control Panel is partially broken. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly is broken and how to fix it.

GeForce Driver Version 266.58 WHQL installs correctly without modification.
GeForce Driver Version 296.10 WHQL requires modified NV_DISP.INF file to install correctly but Nvidia Control Panel is broken.
GeForce Driver Version 320.18 WHQL requires modified NV_DISP.INF file to install correctly but 2-way SLI is broken.

Re: HP Firebird 802 Drivers

That's great news! 266.58 runs well on most everything I play, so I don't have complaints, but the 290 update would be nice just for the 3d settings of newer games. I've been playing SWTOR a lot lately, and I'm still tweaking the 3d settings to find the sweet spot. Thank you for keeping us updated, and if you find a way to definitively install the new drivers, please let me know.

Re: HP Firebird 802 Drivers

MW3 runs great now with old drivers lol.  Gameplay is much smoother now and my K/D ratio has gone up lol.  Arkham City runs with no issues so far.  Amazing.  Gives me hope that I don't need a new computer just yet.

Hybrid SLI Technology

Hybrid SLI® technology, based on NVIDIA’s industry-leading SLI technology, delivers multi-GPU (graphics processing unit) benefits when an NVIDIA® motherboard GPU is combined with an NVIDIA discrete GPU. Hybrid SLI increases graphics performance with GeForce® Boost and provides intelligent power management with HybridPower™.

Nvidia is pushing Optimus technology on notebooks now which combines an Intel motherboard GPU with an Nvidia discrete GPU to save power and increase performance.

Our Firebirds never used GeForce Boost because the 9800 S discrete GPU's are far more powerful than the 760i SLI motherboard GPU. Firebirds have been able to use HybridPower but I've never used it and won't miss it. The normal power savings features built into Windows and the Nvidia display drivers seem good enough to me.

Two-way SLI, as used by Firebirds and some new powerful desktop replacement style laptops, doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon.

Re: HP Firebird 802 Drivers

I used the same drivers..  had the SLI is diabled messaged..

I dissabled nForce 760i from the device manager, rebooted, enabled it again, rebooted... now my SLI is enabled..

not sure how that would fix the issue, but it fixed it for me!  hope it works for those who are still having the issue!

Re: HP Firebird 802 Drivers

The 290.53 install on the two 9800S and the n760i chip. This is shown in the Nvidia Control Panel under System Information and I confirmed this via EVGA Precision X (EVGA Precision X). I have been using this driver, with great success, for the past several months. It is stable in all games and runs all current MMORPGs @ 40 FPS or better @ 1920x1080 on high settings on Direct X 10.

Going to try and find a stable 300 series driver for our Firebirds, later this month.
