HPE-500Z

[ Edited ]

Ok.. i got this computer may 27,2011 with upgraded Graphics card and hard drive... Has a Nvidia 1GB GeForce 405 AMD quad core 3.0GHz 1T hard drive 300W PS. Been having problem's with the Nvidia drivers failing even installing current drivers and talking with over 9 Tecks even level 2 techs and have not had a fix to this. I have a case manager that sent out a new card and it keeps happening so they are sending out a another card that is not nvidia and come to find out there seems to be major problems with the HPE's total from research i have done. Computer is still not fixed and i am kinda sick of being on the phone with them trying to fix it. It is now having security problems and had to restore it a tech said and yet new errors come up all the time. I do not want to sit here and watch my computer destroy itself. Anyone have this problem? Seems like it can not even play games right, only on the lowest setting possible even for games that call for a core 2 duo.......

Few Specs,

Window's 7 64 bit

AMD Athlon 2 X4 640 processor 3.00GHz

6Gs of ram

1GB Nvidia GeForce 405

1T hard drive

Here is a Screen shot of the card error and no one in HP can tell me what is going on, So i bring it here took me abit to get the screen shot since my print screen does not work had to open the snipping tool quick to get itCaptureEr233.PNG

Re: HPE-500Z

Lots of different things going on - Video Card and the computer is destroying itself - I'll address the video card first.

the 405 is not really a gaming card - I'd upgrade it if you are gaming. but if you stick with it, update the driver from Nvidia not from HP. NVidia will have the latest drivers.

If you do upgrade keep an eye on the power - the 405 is 75W card if I'm not mistaken and so if you upgrade to a higher watt card make sure your 300W PS can handle it (95W cards are probably ok anything bigger - upgrade your PS)

Next - the PC probably isn't destroying itself - it is probably a combination of lots of things. What I would start with is a clean slate. Back your data up and then recovery the system.

Once recovered Don't load anything except things you KNOW are going to be useful to you. Don't load file sharing apps, or registry cleaners, or multiple spyware/virus protecction programs, use what is currently on your PC. Make sure it is stable, update windows and all your drivers, run it for a few days to make sure the HW is stable... now you have a benchmark of how it is running...if it is stable...

Now load your games and rock the house.

good luck

Re: HPE-500Z

Well when i talked to the agent that helped me pick the computer and upgrade it said this was a gaming computer and the card can handle high end games and the tech did both HP driver and nvidia drivers and did the same after,

PS i did not have a option to upgrade and they said the 300W is min requirment for everything and not to mentiopn they just sent me a 2gb radeon hd card and a tech was going to install it on monday and i guess my PS can not handle that one for sure,

it was recovered 3 times and retored 2 times, and i only use norton and no file share software of any kind just games,

not to mention the internet disconnections i was telling my ISP to fix was not them at all i found out after trying to research the error it is the network card since my ISP replaced all the cables and lines with a brand new modem and still is going on and do not pick up any drops, ty realtek drivers

to be honest the lady did lie to me and sold me a computer that was not able to do what it was suppost to do.... like i said so many techs and a case manager can not find out a single problem you are the only one to tell me something they did not that is usefull and for that i thank you

Hi Gamer,

I have experienced the same NVIDIA driver recovery periodically with one of my systems.  I am now running NVIDIA driver level 280.26 and my system seems to be stable.

I think NVIDIA 275.33 was the level that I had experienced issues but maybe not.  I do try a lot of different drivers.

The issue appears to be in differnet drivers.  See the NVIDIA post.
