Recently bought my son an ATI 5870 (1GB graphics card that requires 2 75W 6 pin PS connectors)
We upgraded the power supply reconnected everything and the PC will not boot (not even bios beeps). The fans all come on but the system will not book. When we put the old graphics card back in it works fine.
The computer is also running Windows 7 which was installed from a retail version.
Tried some googling and it might be a BIOS issue except that the bios update for the system won't install because is isn't offered for Win7 (I assume because Win7 didn't exist when the PC was sold).
Motherboard is P5LE-LP
Any suggestions?

Hi Andy,
I have seen posts where ATI 5xxx video cards did not work in older HP PCs. That may or may not be your problem but I would return the card. Try an NVIDIA card.
Review the ATI and NVIDIA performance specifications. Look at the memory bandwidth specifications and the DirectX level support.
BTW, The 5870 is a 188 watt card so I hope the PSU is quality brand with at least 500 watts.
