Pam, a couple of things could be going on. The computer could be getting too hot which would create the problem. Also, the video driver could need updating. I would try updating the video driver first. Then, you may have to do some cable management. This means moving cables in the computer so the airflows to all components.
Here is a link to a good program for monitoring the temperature in the computer case.

Hi,
Tried what you said, and the same thing. It might be the video card...

What model HP PC and operating system are you using? What video card is installed in your PC?
Try this procedure:
Unplug the PC and open it up. Clean out all the dust. Carefully remove and replace all the cables going to the motherboard one at a time. Do the same for the memory dimms and the video and sound cards if you have any. You might want to buy a can of compressed air to blow the dust out of the CPU heat sink. Plug your PC back in and give it a go.

Play some solitaire in safe mode and see if you get the same freezes.
You may also try to update your VGA driver, or just simpyl reinstall it.
OR
You can remove/install Solitaire from Add/Remove Programs.
My last question: Is your PC freezing only when you play Solitaire, or it's freezing with another applications/games too?

Did you tried it in Safe Mode?
Download this update for your motherboard it should solve the issue.
Or you can go to Intel Driver Update Tool it will serach for updates regarding your drivers.
