Upgrading PSU in Elite 8200

I'm trying to upgrade the psu to accommodate a Nvidia Geforce 560. It requires a minimum of 450 watts.

this model came with a 320 watt what appears to be a proprietary PSU.

Is it upgradeable?

Why do you say the power supply looks proprietary?

Please identify your notebook/pc with more than the series number.

Look at the base/rear/side of the notebook/pc at the barcoded sticker.

Post items numbered 1 and 2 on the following image. Your barcode may be slightly different but will still have the important imformation needed for us to help you.

Post the installed operating system version ( and whether it is 32 or 64-bit )

I don't have anything saying service tag, but under the warranty info there is a series of numbers/letters in parentheses

The reason I say it might be proprietary from the psu is  I have three groups of wires, a four pin cpu set, a six pin (pwr) set, and a another six pin p2 pwrcmd set.

Thanks for any help you can give me, I've googled myself out trying to upgrade this PSU.

Thank-you so much for verifying that i'm not crazy. One more question and thank-you for your time.

Do they make a power supply with the same pin outs with at least 450 watts that would fit this? I've searched high and low and with your magician reference, i'm guessing no.

I've already mapped out a plan for case modding this and adding another power supply to power this video card but waiting for a second opinion to move forward.

Hi,

HP Partsurfer is only listing the 320 watt power supply.

This manual may provide better information about the three power connectors.  See page 7-3.

Hi, you can use a ATX-PSU if you do some rewiring:

1: The 4-pin cpu contact is ok as it is.

2: Clip the 12v, -12v and GND from the 24pin ATX and wire it to the 6-pin MB contact (color coded)

3: Take the "Pwr good" from the ATX- contact and put it on the small 6 pin HP special contact (grey I think) (clip the others on this special contact)

4: Use a external switch to ground the green "Ps_ON" from the PSU ATX contact.

5: Set in bios that it will start automatically after power loss.

Now you can start the computer via the new external switch.

You will have to press F1 during startup because it complains about the PSU fan is not detected.

(The pro & elite series is steering the PSU fan from the Motherboard)

I used a z400 475W PSU... it fits perfect in the case
