Hello EvilHenchman,

  I am using the Original OS, VIsta 64. I am STILL using 266.58 for my video driver, and it is working great. If you are using Windows 7 I suggest that you use Windows Update for your driver updates. They are tested and reliable drivers and the most stable to use.

The only 'approved' driver, for BF3, that I know of is a Beta. You can pick it up @ www.geforce.com. It was posted on the first page, or under drivers. Check out www.geforce.com and they HAVE a driver just for BF3. Good luck.

Both the 280 driver and the beta (285) driver wont install for me. i get the hardware not found error.

Im running 9800s x2  760i SLI

any help would be muich appreciated.

You tried the r285? I haven't tried it, because the driver I am using works for all the games I play. I am using 266.58. It was the last suggested for the Geforce 9800 S. Windows update has one of the 280 series available for the 760i. I usually wait until they release a new one for both the 9800's and the 760i. BF3 is still beta, right? You are going to have difficulty running any beta game on our Firebirds. We have a 'Hybrid SLI' and our system is rarely supported in betas. If you want to experiment and have the time and inclination there ia one last place. Laptop video 2 go. They have a huge library of drivers and moded INFs. I don't mess with that stuff, but if you arw hardcore, give it a try. Last, if you are running the beta and having problems try disabling SLI from the tray icon. There really isn't driver support for our configuration.

Thanks for the reply Enzo, I actually have BF3 beta working now but with the ocassional graphic glitch. Im using driver 275.33 at the moment since the 280 and 285 beta driver both would not install and both gave me the "hardware not found" error.

Ive also tried running the game with sli disabled, it works also but not nearly as smoothly as with sli running..  I still get a "uncompatable driver version" error in either mode when i connect to a BF3 server but i just close the error and im still able to join game.

Hopefully Nvidia sends out a new update for 760i sli before the game is released...

275.33, hum, I haven't tried that driver. Thanks for the information on a newer driver. You happen to play WoW? Or any other MMORPG? I am getting 60fps @ 1920x1080 in WoW and wouldn't want to take a fps hit. What other games have you played on you Firebird with the 275.33? How do you feel your Firebird is holding up, to newer games, as the years pass? I am toying with the idea of starting a Firebird Blackbird web site. A place to talk about upgrades, drivers, performance tweeks and everything 'Bird'.

Oh, Fieldy, there ARE 280 series drivers that work on our 9800 S. I got one installed, but it did not perform well in benchmarks. I woo try to look up which driver it was. As well, @ the laptop video to go web site on each driver page it lists the hardware IDs each driver supports. This is listed in the driver 'inf' of the driver package. Funny that, NVIDIA RARELY lists Geforce 9800 S on the 'Supported cards' page in their driver pages. Our Firebirds were, actually, the largest production use of this card. The 9800 S www used in other machines, mostly notebooks. However, our Firebirds were the ONLY application of them in SLI.
