I have a pavilion a1100y. I want to upgrade the graphic card. I purchased a nvidia GeForce 6200 PCI.
When I installed it the computer starts like normal but I can see any open windows on the desk top.
Am I doing something wrong?
Can you help me?

Seeing that the motherboard does not have a PCI-e slot, make sure the card is in the top slot and not a PCI-e card. Assuming that the monitor is plugged into the Video card output and not where it was before, do you see the BIOS splash screen? Did the onboard video card work before this new card was installed? Does it work now if the new card is removed?

The old graphic card still works with the new card installed. That is how I am back on line.

Well, normally the onboard graphics need to be disabled for the new card to work properly and that needs to be done in the BIOS. I would suggest that to see if it makes things work right.
