Great Question!
The PS3 can be played on the TouchSmart screen through the S-Video port like any other device but is not recommended.
The video will be grainey because you are downgrading a high resolution digital picture to analog and also in some cases there is a two second delay from the input to what you see on the monitor because of the analog back to digital conversion. This issue is not a problem if your importing video but can be bothersome if your playing a video game or anything else thats interactive.
Make it easier for other people to find solutions, by marking my answer “Accept as Solution” if it solves your problem.

Thanks for replying but im still skeptical about my hp touchsmart 600 i thought the 600 models came with the gaming ports
like the hdmi and A / V source button console mode.Well im not sure if i have the gaming ports because i checked and when i
opened the bottom left side panel i couldnt see any of those gaming ports but my hp touchsmart manual says its there. So
your are insinuating that i can play my Ps3 on my pc with the S-video input but the game graphics would be messed up
please how and what do i need to buy.

You probably need to upgrade your PC. Check to see if you can slap a high end graphics card in. You'll have to see if you have the available PCI slot. Are your current graphics integrated? If so you probably don't have the capability do install a dedicated graphics card. PS3 is a HD gaming system, at least in the sense of getting the best out of the system. You would hate it if you ran it through what you have now.

Belliano,
I just went and looked on the support site for your PC and I don't believe you will have much luch running a PS3 through it.
If it was me I would run the PS3 through a nice HD Tv and then get you a good dualband wireless router/gateway to connect the PS3 to your PC as an extender to Windows Media Center. You will then to be able to download streaming video and games and enjoy it through a nice Widescreen HD LCD Tv. That's what I do although my system of choice is Xbox and WII.
Windows Media Center in Windows 7 is fricken awesome. I also run Netflix through both the Xbox and Wii. I can download any Tv program or movie via Netflix or downloadable gaming content from Microsoft Xbox Live and never leave my comfortable chair. I run wireless everything. I see your PC came with a dualband NIC. I would take advantage of it.
