Bewildered. Purchased HP DVD Writer 1265i yesterday at Best Buy.
Cannot find drivers ANYWHERE. Cannot find one single post on this site about this dvd writer.
When I installed this (physically), I got no on-screen messages indicating any kind of installation of the dvd drive;
it shows up in Device Manager; system says driver is up to date. ......but says
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
I have Windows 7 64 bit; HP Pavillion a6826f.

It's normal that the driver for your optical drive is provided by the operating system.
Try following the procedure under the sub-heading 'Let me fix it myself' on the link below to remove the Upper and Lower filters and see if this helps the 'code19' issue.

Did you remember to delete the previous DVD drive from the system?

My Writer model name is (DVD 1265i-UH01 W)
i have dual boot system in one HDD i have Windows 7 Ultemate 32bit & in the other HDD i have Windows XP 32bit
but in both Windows it shows the model as a HP DVD Writer 1265d
Firmware revision NH21, Recording buffer 512 KB. Do i have to update my Drivers?
