Sorry but it looks like you only have 1 HDD slot.

Hi,

I guess there might be a way to insert a cady where the blu-ray player is and have an SSD instead of the optical drive. There are only two sata ports on the motherboard and 2 sata power connectors.

In my opinion the best solution would be to remove the Hard drive (3.5") and replace it with an SSD (even though the SSd will be bottlenecked by sata II inetrface) it will still greatly increase the performance of your system. You can download and install windows 10 directly from Microsoft and it will be automatically activated and will install all or most of drivers for your system. You will need an adapter 2.5" to 3.5" so that it will fit in the 3.5 "cage" of the ol hard drive.

You could get a housing for the removed Hard drive and use it as an external usb drive to keep all the larger files.

Hope it helps,

HP Video for replacing HDD in the HP Pavilion 23 -- YouTube video.

Highly recommend that you just swap out for a 500 GB or larger SSD.

Prices have dropped significantly (less than 50 cents/GB).

** You can always place the old 3.5" hard disk in an external case, if desired.**

You will need a 2.5" SSD to 3.5" adapter .... the HP part number: 654540-001 or 654540-002

These are widely available from China and USA resellers on Amazon, eBay, Alibaba, and better computer stores.

WATCH PRICING ... VARIES WIDELY.  Be smart shopper.

Chinese resellers normally take at least 2 weeks.

SAVE SCREWS !!!  The 3.5 inch hard drives use 6-32 screws, 1/4" length max. (SAE, English),

you will transfer those screws to adapter bracket (same locations on adapter's outer rail).

Your New SSD will use METRIC SCREWS (normally M3 size).  WATCH LENGTH

Many new SSD ship with those M3 screws .... IF not, acquire from SSD reseller.

Click on Hard Drive.

You should try using the videos from this site instead of YouTube.
