Blank screen after installing radeon r7 250 graphics card in a HP Pavilion p7-1120 Desktop

[ Edited ]

I recently purchased a redeon r7 250 graphics card after getting tired of using the integrated graphics on my desktop pc. After carefully removing the cover and installing the graphics card, I found that after powering up the pc, nothing showed up on my screen. Every fan is working, even the fan on the graphics card. I have tried disabling the intel hd drivers that come with the machine, but to no avail.

Please read this, and perform the test. Which BIOS do you have?

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served.
Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..

Re: Blank screen after installing radeon r7 250 graphics card in a HP Pavilion p7-1120 Desktop

Albert, welcome to the forum.

I believe that your problem is caused by the lack of wattage from the power supply unit (PSU).  The card requires a minimum of 400W to operate properly.  The existing PSU is only 300W.

Please click "KUDOS Thumbs Up" if I have helped you and click "Accept as Solution" if your problem is solved.

According to the link posted, I am using BIOS

But it probably might be the pSu not supplying enough power.

Would that cause the whole system to not boot though?

If I were to purchase a new power supply, would that fix my problem?

Yes, if the system is not getting enough power it will not boot properly.  A new PSU should solve your problem.  I recommend at least 500W; 600W would even be better.  I like OCZ and Corsair PSU's.  They are high quality with a reasonable price.
