Hello,
I'm a 72-year old, fixed income senior with a computer hardware problem. My all-in-one desktop was purchased 9/30/2010 and my Care Pack end date was 9/30/2014. However, I hope someone likes old guys and are willing to help. I got a message that my CPU Fan is not working correctly and the computer shut down to protect itself. Now I know why it is called a "HP Touch Smart". I was lucky to get the computer started again just by clicking the "on button" over and over until the computer started (maybe divine intervention from the Lord?).
Since I'm not a computer mechanic, have limited resources, and am willing to try to fix the computer myself, what do I do? Where to get a new fan for an old computer? How to install it? Will I be successful? Will a repair center charge a lot of money? What can I do? Please advise. Thank you.

Hi,
It shouldn't be too difficult to replace the fans on your own if you want to try. I am going to refer you to a guide which I like a lot and is quite "simple".
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/HP+TouchSmart+600+Cooling+Fan+Replacement/62223
To buy a replacement fan I would try ebay where you can find used or new ones for a low prize. This i found a few minutes ago while looking and I give the link as an example, search a bit on ebay.
Let me know if you need any help with the disassembly and reassembly,
David
