Compaq 6200
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've spent 3 hours searching. So many different reviews, so many cards, so many questions. I do not want to waste money because I have searched all stores in my area. Walmart, Best Buy, and a few private owned used computer stores. The pc that I have is small form factor, so I need a low profile graphics card. All I play is league of legends. I would like to be able to play on high resolution hd and at least medium to high settings. Theres so many cards I don't know where to start because I'd basically have to order it and then wait and if it doesn't work go through a return process. I just don't have the time for that type of trial and error. This is my computer specs.

Motherboard: Hewlett-Packard Model 1497 Serial 2UA212020Y
Processor: Intel Core i3-2120 3.30ghz
System Type: 64 bit Windows 10
Ram: 12gigs
PSU: 240v
Compaq 6200 Small Form Factor

Do not really have the money to buy a psu and a gsu at same time, so would prefer one that I can use with out upgrading psu. I seen some 1gig and 2gig ones. Some said pci express 2.1 or 3.0 LOL. I honestly have no idea where to start. Over the years I have learned som much from this community, so I ask anyone willing to help me narrow down my search. Please teach a man to fish Very Happy

Would this card work on my pc if so I will buy right away. If now can some one help me find a decent card please.

Hi:

I can't say whether or not that card will work in your PC.

I have read in this forum that the last series of Nvidia cards you can install in PC's of around the age yours is, are the 600 series.

The 700 series may require a newer BIOS revision than your PC has.

You cannot upgrade the P/S even if you wanted to, as it is proprietary.

So you will have to live with what cards will work with the existing configuration.

I recommend you stick with what HP offered as an optional card in the 6200 Pro series, which was the AMD Radeon HD 6450.

Read the reviews before buying, because I have no idea if the game you want to play will work well with that card.

Most 64 bit graphics memory interface low profile graphics cards are not designed for playing video games.

If you want a nvidia graphics, card, then the GT610 should work just fine too.

the first link you gave me. there was a 1gb option and a 2gb option. would the 2gb work? out of both those cards which one would you reccomend?

HP Recommended

The 2 GB would work, but it will use more power to run the additional memory.

The 1 GB card draws less than 30 W but I don't know how much more wattage the 2 GB card draws.

Probably not a lot more.

Read the reviews on the 2 GB card.

If they seem the same or better than those for the 1 GB card, you may as well get the one with more memory.

Did you ever get this to work?

If so which card? Or, some other issue?

I tried the Radeon HD 6450 without success
