PS: Documentation refers to an optional Quadro G-Sync card - would I need that?

This is what it says in the specs...I would assume it is an option, not a requirement for the card to work.

 

NVIDIA Quadro G-Sync Card (can only be ordered with the FX 4500 & FX 5500 graphics card)

 

I don't think you would need it.

Paul, rather than wait for the bidding war on the 5500, I managed to get a 4600 for £20.  It's in the PC working perfectly.
