I purchased a Seagate Barracuda XT 3TB drive to use as an extra internal hard drive in my HP m8530f Desktop. However, when I plug it in and run the Seagate DiscWizard, I can only see 746GB of the drive. Seagate's DiscWizard program, as far as they say, is supposed to install some driver that allows you to see the entire capacity of the drive. I went back and forth with Seagate for a while and sent them the drive back and they sent me another. Same issue. I'm sure it's not the drive because if I plug it in to an external USB 3.0 dock, it works. I want the drive to be internal however. Has anyone here run into a similar issue that can provide assistance?

I've tried all of that with the DiscWizard. Even when I have it set to MBR, the DiscWizard tells me there are no hard discs with MBR partition style larger than 2TB. I looked on the HP page for the computer itself, and there are no listed BIOS upgrades.

You will not see a bios upgrade for your PC to natively support 3TB hard drives.
Did you install the add on driver and reboot?
Doesn't DiscWizard indicate that you might end up with having to use more than one partition?

I'm fine with using more than one partition and prefer to. I installed the DiscWizard program which I was under the impression installed the appropriate drivers necessary to be able to see the full capacity of the drive. So it either doesn't work, or it's not installing any driver.
As for the BIOS, I was just making sure it was as up to date as possible as part of my troubleshooting.

Try paragraph 17.1 on page 95. What does the Seagate Drive Cleanser see?
Does the Seagate Extended Capicity Manager function?

DriveCleanser only sees 746.5 GB. When I click on the Extended Capacity Manager, I get this:
The entire space is accessible: there are no Seagate/Maxtor hard discs with MBR partition style larger than 2 TB in your system or sector's size on your disc is larger than 512 KB. All hard drives can be managed by Add New Disc tool.
