HPV242H Monitor
Microsoft Windows XP (64-bit)

I have three of these screens, unfortunately 2 of the 3 screens have a hot pink background.  The screens are not clear.  Is something that happens to these screens after a certain time of usage?  Is there something that I can do to repair the screen? Can this problem be fixed at all?  Please advise.

Well, there is newer driver software for the monitor -- you could try reloading it.  That may well fix the problem as long as the problem is not hardware the cause of the failure to work as expected.

Commentary - what if nothing helps?

 

Inexpensive monitors, any brand, typically last as long as the warranty.

 

More expensive monitors, any brand, typcially last as long as the warranty.   In point of fact, "better" monitors might come with a longer warranty, say two or three years as opposed to the one year standard (in the USA).   These monitors will likely last two or three years.

 

Monitors of any brand, any price, can last longer than the warranty period, of course.

 

Monitors are affected by the materials used in manufacture, the environment in which they are used, the extent to which they are used (number of hours), power outages / surges / low voltage issues ...

 

These monitors, if they are in warranty, might be replaced / fixed.  Contact HP Tech Support.

 

If the monitors are not under warranty, you need to decide whether trying to get them fixed is worth the cost of the purchase (somewhere in the neighborhood of $115-130? US).

 

Personally, when monitors burn out / fail / become troublesome, I opt to replace the monitor with a newer model and I send the old one to the local "green" recycle center.
