Newbie alert! Well, sort of anyway. Just got a dc7900 SFF box and want to chock it completely full of RAM, all 16G please! So first off I've got such a wide selection of reputable suppliers, Crucial, Crucial or yeah, Crucial it seems. Even they don't appear to have anything actually spot on, the closest I can find is this...
...but it's ECC registered, would it even work? Otherwise has anyone got a link to a supplier that they used? It's extremely tricky to even work out if what's being offered is a single stick of 4GB versus 2 * 2GB sticks half the time. I spent quite a while looking at some OCZ RAM that turned out to be 2 separate sticks.
It's not the end of world if single 4GB sticks aren't available, I'm okay falling back to 4 * 2GB packs but if anyone has done this before and knows where to get it from I'd be very grateful for pointers.
If you're wondering why it's for a home VM lab and compiling customized chroot based LAMP stacks from RedHat source code.

Ah ha! What does the collected wisdom think...
...anyone used this? It's cheaper in the US...
...but there's no international shipping.

Consumer PCs usually are equipped with non-ECC memory as compared with commerical servers which are normally equipped with ECC memory. Skip the ECC memory and go with what is specified for your PC. Look the dimm timings and voltage and keep it to your system specifications. You'll have a lot fewer headaches.

FYI, the gSkill RAM is not compatible or at least it doesn't support just 2 sticks of 4G. Is there anywhere I can find a definitive list of compatible RAM and configurations? The spec sheets always seem to state that the table they present doesn't include all possible combinations.
