I bought a Gigabyte nvidia Geforce GTX750 as an upgrade but on installation the system will not pass POST - i get the HP splash screen for 30 seconds then a single 0.5 second beep which repeats evey 30 seconds.
Plugging the original HP supplied card back in and all is good.
Any clues ?

Run a complete set of HP diagnostics to make sure that your PC is stable.
You didn't state the model of the GTX 750 that you are using. Some GTX 750TIs require the use of a PCI-E 6 pin power connector so you might want to check for that requirement.
I suspect that the video bios in the NVIDIA GTX 750 is not compatible with your 3+ year old PC. There is an outside chance that the Gigabyte GTX 750 which is PCI-E 3.0 is not backwards compatible with the PCI-E version 2.0 bus in your PC. Contact Gigabyte for a remedy.

I just had the same problem with an EVGA GTX 750 that I had ordered. My friend and I did a process of elimination and a little trial and error and came to the conclusion that the GTX 750 is not getting enough power from the motherboard.
