Z240
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Can anyone provide me tips to remove the black cover / latch so I can install turbo drive g2 in PCI slot? Tried for several hours, googled a lot, did not find a cover similar to the one I have. Here is the picture of what I mean:

Thanks in advance.

I managed to find this link for the official HP Z240 remove/replace videos;

http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/sml-extract/mediaRequest?seriesOid=8354563&meId=42EAE7ED-FBD8-4470-...

(p.s. use internet explorer as link doesn't work correctly on all browsers)

It's probably a good ideal you bookmark this site for future reference. Unfortunately, it does not show the hold down bracket on any of these videos, (perhaps HP could look at this issue?). I have owned a Z600 and my present Z620 and done quite a bit of upgrading on both machines. Normally, disassembly of all the HP Z series workstations is a relatively simple process since you don't require any tools. The areas marked in green (position 2) are the plastic catches and may need to be pressed quite firmly to release. There may possibly be some tension on the hold down bracket so it may help to lightly press down the end of the bracket (position 1) while releasing the catch (2). Once the catch is released, the hold down bracket (position 1) should lift away from the cards. i.e. While pressing (2), slowly rotate the end of the bracket in an upward direction. Again, only a guess, but you may find that the bracket will only lift by about 30 - 45 degrees then the bracket should be lowered at the hinge end (2) by a couple of mm (~1/8") and carefully removed.

@pmadhur,

What is the model of the computer?

It only works with P Z230, Z420, Z440, Z620, Z640, Z820, and Z840 series Workstations.

Here is the install document for the HP Z Turbo board.

@Brian1965, Thanks very much for the link. In the pdf, Figure 3 (Remove the hold down from chassis)  is where I am struggling. That thing is so hard to remove. Feel like breaking it with a hammer. Don't understand why people invent so complicated things.

A video of Figure 3 in the pdf link you sent would be very helpful.

@Brian1965, thanks very much again. I got very frustrated, so took my tower to a shop. Very funny, that guy in the shop also got equally frustrated (or may be more than me because it is his daily job) and it took almost 2 hours for him to remove it. But finallly it came out. Actually it was by luck it came out because after inserting the turbo drive, he tried once again to take it out and was not successful.

Anyway thanks again for your help because when you sent me the first pdf link, seeing the pictures helped me lower my frustration because I could not find any pdf/videos on the internet and thought my tower is the first of its kind.

it is very difficult to explain the problem and also difficult to google it. It has no specific name.
