USB 3.0 for HPE-590UK

[ Edited ]

Hi,

I recently bought a HP Pavilion Elite HPE-590uk, and I was wondering whether I could add the HP USB 3.0 SuperSpeed PCIe x1 Card? Is it compatible? I've searched on here, but I don't know whether it's compatible for that exact model.

Cheers,

Sean

If you do have free PCI-E x1 slot you may try this one:

Re: USB 3.0 for HPE-590UK

That's the one I just said, but is it compatible with the HPE-590UK? The site only has a compatibility list for business models, and I've read that some of the PCI slots need a molex power adapter.

And will it give me 3.0 USB speeds? A few things I've read have said that if the PCI-e slots aren't 2.0 or better, it's not worth doing because you won't get USB3.0 transfer speeds out of it. The HP site just says PCI express slots, and doesn't say what generation they are. Nor does the info about the Cleveland motherboard.

Cheers,

Re: USB 3.0 for HPE-590UK

Hello Sean,

There should be no problem with your unit. Cleveland MB has PCIe 2.0 spoc slots for sure. And 460W PSU installed in your unit should not need a Molex adapter. There should be spare SATA power adapter on the PSU cable harness.

Hi Sean,

Be sure that HP supplies a driver disk.
