Hello -
I was looking for some assistance or suggestions on upgrading my current processor from quad core to 8 or 16 cores.
Currently installed is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40GHz processor. I'm computer savvy enough to know how to swap out a processor, but not computer savvy enough to know the right type i should be using.
I tried to upgrade the processor in the past on a previous machine and ended up losing the machine completely -- it wouldnt start up any longer with the new or previous processor. FAIL.
Any ideas of a few processors that are compatible with my machine? Can be Intel or AMD.
Thanks!

It can only be a very specific Intel(R) Core(TM).
See the following Illustrated parts and service map PDF manual for the list of compatible CPUs. (see page 2)
