Peace upon you

Upgrading my desktop HP Compaq DC 5850 small form factor PC , i have contacted with an HP agent in a chat session , She gave this link to know my board compatible choices for processor ,Ram and graphic card

https://h10057.www1.hp.com/ecomcat/hpcatalog/specs/provisioner/99/ND234UC.htm

My problem now is :
I m not sure of chipset model in that link because cpuz program says its (780G) while link says (780V)

also link didn't say anything about RAM upgrade limit which made me buy 1066 MHZ RAM but my mobo read it 800MHZ , i have lost 160 $ in that 😞

I m going now to buy Phenom II X4 810 AMD processor but i have to know if it will work before buying it

My question is :
Is there any difference - as it appears - between 780 G & 780 V ?
And if so , Which processor should i buy for upgrade.

Thanks

Well thanks but what about chipset model question?
HP Recommended

All the documentation points to it being an AMD 780V, which according AMD is a business class chipset with integrated ATI Radeon™ 3100 graphics. The AMD 780G, according to AMD is a consumer class chipset with ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 graphics. It appears the core of the chipsets are the same and the program is mis-identifying the chipset.

Great .. I think it safer to buy the 805 phenom II X4 processor as it s found in the two documents
what say you?

That should be a good choice. You may also consider updating the BIOS if the system is at a revision of less than 3.14

Hi, i ahve a diffrent problem, its for upgrading my Graphics Card, i was woundering what the limit was for that, i have the same computer Hp Compaq small form factor dc5850, so if you guys can help me out at all ill be greatful. Thanks

HP Recommended

@Gamma820,

The limiting factor is going to be the power supply.  According to this document, the small form factor has a 240W power supply.  It does have a PCIe X16 slot, so a newer card will work as long as it is a low-profile card.

If you don't want to upgrade the power supply along with it, you can upgrade to one of the cards starting on page 28 of the document.
