I have an older PC, and my video card seems to be at the end of its life. When running basic games on low settings the screen will shut down, and I have to reboot the system to get anything to work. This previously only happened when playing games, so I just avoided gaming for a while. Recently the shut down has happened just with daily work tasks, so I think it is time to fix the problem. I ran GPU-Z and the tempertatures are in the high 80's C and the fan speed is always at 100%

I posted about this issue before, Here

At that time I was looking for the most powerful card that would be compatible with my computer, and I purchased a new power supply to accomodate the new video card. When I could not find a replacement card, I returned the video card, so now I just have the stock PS.

I will be purchasing a new PC soon, so I don't want to spend too much money. Right now I just want anything that will work. Is there a way to search for legacy Bios cards that are compatible with my computer? I currently live in China, so it is a bit difficult to find replacment parts unless you know exaclty what you are looking for. I found a supplier that has a used GT 440, but if I can somewhat upgrade what I have now without breaking the bank it would be pretty cool.

@onlydlonly,

I would wait on the new PC.  Adding a new GPU would be limited to the max of the GTX 660.  But on your present I7-2600 and a new PSU for the card, I do not recommend it.

My current video card is a 1.5 GB GeForce GT 440. I was able to find a 3 GB GeForce GT 440 for around $30. I swapped the cards out and my computer beeped 6 times before stalling on the blue HP startup screen. I'm in the process of uninstalling the  drivers to see if that will work. Do you have any suggestions on why the card isn't working?
