cpu

Product Name: DC7600 sff

I have just bought a secondhand HP DC7600 sff and was very upset that my asus P5LD2 rev 2.01 will run a core2duo e6700 etc but the DC7600 won't is there any way to upgrade it to run a core2 duo

Re: cpu

Hi:

The best processor the dc7600 can run is the Pentium D 945 or 950.

The only difference between the 945 and 950 is the 950 supports Virtualization.

Many have tried various core2's, none have succeeded.

Re: cpu

Thanks, this is what I expected as I have the asus with later spec which runs core2 looks like I need a dc7700 or dc7800 for them to run

Re: cpu

You're very welcome.

Yes some Intel 945 chipset motherboards can run some low end core2 duo (1066 Mhz) processors, but unfortunately not the dc7600.

I'd go for the dc7800.  That's what I have.  Mine came with the C2D E8300.

You should be able to pick up a used dc7800 on eBay very inexpensively.

It can also run W10.  That is what I am running on mine.
