hp compaq 8000 elite
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, currently I am trying to upgrade the memory on the elite 8000. I have come across the same error however when I try to install the memory, instead of starting it beeps 4 or 5 times and the fan eventually starts to make a lot more noise. I figured that the memory being installed must be incompatible with some feature of the computer, but I cannot find the error. When plugged into a moniter, nothing shows on the display (and im sure it is properly plugged in.)

Ive tested with the old memory (4x1gb) and it works fine. Ive upgraded the OS from windows 7 32-bit to windows 10 64-bit. Ive looked into the manuals, and the memory im installing should work. Any help or ideas?

memory purchased:

***UPDATE***

Ive ordered the new parts, which still do not work. Windows is up to date, the memory is properly seated, and the same error is coming up. Im pretty sure the memory works, but im not sure why it wont in this computer.

Hi:

You bought the wrong memory.

See this post for the right memory to get.

The 8000, 8100 and 8200 Elite PC's sue the same memory.

I ordered this memory, and the computer is still not functioning. The part on that post was this

I installed both sets, putting one stick in the first slot and one in the third, and it wasnt functioning. I recieved the same error, and nothing will appear on my screen. After that failed, i tested each individual stick in the first slot, and i believe neither to be dammaged. Am i doing something wrong? As I think I said, im running 64-bit windows ten. Ive double checked this, and even reinstalled windows 64-bit to make sure previously.

That memory should have worked, so unfortunately, I don't know what the issue could be.

It worked just fine in my 8000 Elite CMT, and I bought the same memory for my friend's 8000 Elite CMT and it worked fine in his too.

Ive also been talking to the manufacturer of the memory. They led me to update the bios. This still is not working out for me. The memory im installing is DIMM versus the pre-installed SIMM. Could this be an issue?

Im looking for any help, thanks!

Here is the manual ive been looking at for this desktop. http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/getpdf.aspx/c04287230.pdf?ver=1

Okay update:

Ive looked at the board, and the memory slots are labeled "DIMM1" and so on. I figure this means my DIMM memory should work, so that answers my origional question.

The motherboard is manufactured by HP, which would probably mean the bios i installed from them is as up to date as it gets.

Ive tested both sticks individually and both wont work... but I feel like these sticks are not damaged

Anybody have any information? Thanks
