1265i dvd writer

[ Edited ]

Bewildered.  Purchased HP DVD Writer 1265i yesterday at Best Buy.

Cannot find drivers ANYWHERE.  Cannot find one single post on this site about this dvd writer.

When I installed this (physically), I got no on-screen messages indicating any kind of installation of the dvd drive;

it shows up in Device Manager; system says driver is up to date.      ......but says

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I have Windows 7 64 bit; HP Pavillion a6826f.

Thanks in advance

Re: 1265i dvd writer

Hi Ron,

It's normal that the driver for your optical drive is provided by the operating system.

Try following the procedure under the sub-heading 'Let me fix it myself' on the link below to remove the Upper and Lower filters and see if this helps the 'code19' issue.

Re: 1265i dvd writer

Did you remember to delete the previous DVD drive from the system?
