4870/GTX 260 in a m9600t . Will it work? (Concerned about PSU)

From what I've researched, the PSU is 460W with 18 amps on each of the two 12V rails, but I have no idea about the brand or quality of the PSU. Would this be enough to run one of the two video cards? I'm getting mixed answers from asking around.

The PSU would also have to run:

1TB HDD

8GB RAM

i7 920

GTX 260 or HD 4870

Hi. Check the power supply calculator  at Extreme OuterVison. Fill in your current system configuration and you will have a proper answer. From what I have read and noticed, NewEgg's PSU calculator is old school.

The only issue you will run in filling in the system configuration is that you will have to pick another mid-range motherboard as you will not find your Pegatron IPMTB-TK listed as an option.

Re: 4870/GTX 260 in a m9600t . Will it work? (Concerned about PSU)

I plugged in the specs (along with adding a couple of PCI cards and USB devices for safe measures) and with the 4870, it was about 350 watts, with the GTX 260, it was about 330W. (It was also with me putting in "High end motherboard" just in case as I saw no opntion to put in a specific motherboard." It makes a 12W difference)

Okay, according to that site, theoretically, a 460W PSU should power both of those cards. Assumig the PSU is of reasonably quality, but do you know how many 6-pin power connectors are on the PSU? From what  I've read, both the GTX 260 and the 4870 need 2.

HI.

On the OEM PSU there won't be any PCI-e connectors (6- pin power connectors). That does mean that you will have to replace the PSU with at least a Corsair HX450W psu. The Corsair would be a viable choice.

That last reply confused...if there are no 6-pin connectors at all, how would a card like the 4850 get on there in the first place? The 4850 needs at least  1 6-pin connector as far as I'm aware.

Sorry..I stand corrected.  There will be at least one 6-pin connector on the OEM PSU. It would probably be simpler if you open up your PC case and take a look. There are no documents, publicly available, that I can find that show how many 6-pin connectors are on the OEM PSU.

Re: 4870/GTX 260 in a m9600t . Will it work? (Concerned about PSU)

I don't have PC yet, so I can't look at the PC. I was asking because I was going to see if I was able to upgrade the video card in it (didn't care too much for the GPU options) as soon as I got the PC.

But thanks for all of the help. I have little reason believe the PSU has 2 6-pin power connectors as all of the video card choices I was offered only needed one, not two 6-pin power connectors. So I will probably go with that unti l I have reason to belive otherwise.

The Radeon 4870  and the NVIDIA GTX260 both require two 6-pin connectors.

I meant, video card choices I was offered at the HP customation page (4850, GTS 350, ect.). Not the 4870 or GTX 260. Sorry about the confusion.
