8000T crashing at startup

I have a Presario 8000T which keeps crashing (blue screen) while loading windows.  Replaced hard drive.  It did not help.

Graphics: NVIDIA GE Force FX 5600.

Can you help?

Re: 8000T crashing at startup

Did you run the Microsoft Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor tool before trying to install Vista?

Re: 8000T crashing at startup

I am running Windows XP Professional SP 2.  Processor is pentium 4 HT 3.2 GHz.

At power up, after running BIOS, Windows XP starts loading then crashes.  This process repeats until machine freezes, then i have to repower again...  The machine is now disabled.  i can't get XP to load.

Thanks for your help

PS I am sending this email from my other desktop which runs Vista.

Have you tried to re-install XP? Are all the fan's inside working?

Re: 8000T crashing at startup

I have reinstalled XP even on a new hard drive.  The system still crashes while loading windows XP.  I have blown all the dust out of the fans and heat sinks.  All fans are working.  I also tried replacing memory but it did not help.  I have tried new EIDE cables -- no help.

Re: 8000T crashing at startup

Does XP crash in 'Safe Mode'? Any XP error msg being displayed?

Re: 8000T crashing at startup

It crashes in "Safe Mode" as well -- the same way.  It runs the BIOS.  Next the Windows logo appears on the screen, then it crashes and I see the blue screen then it tries to reboot.  This goes on forever.

I get the following message on the blue screen:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
.......

STOP: ox0000007E (0XC0000005, 0X8051B578, 0XF89D468, 0XF894D164)

Thank you for your help.

Re: 8000T crashing at startup

Try this:

Using the Checkdisk Utility
Use the following steps start the recovery console and use chkdsk to resolve startup issues:
  1. Open a recovery console.
  2. At the C:\Windows> prompt in the recovery console enter chkdsk /r .
      Chkdsk starts.
The time required depends on the size of the hard drive (it checks unused portions of the hard drive) and the amount of software installed. When chkdsk /r completes the screen displays the size of the volume checked and the allocation units. If errors are detected the result are displayed as CHKDSK found and fixed one or more errors on the volume . This is normal.
  3. Type EXIT and press Enter on the keyboard.
    The PC restarts.
  4. If you used the Recovery Console from a CD, while the PC is restarting, press the Eject button on the CD drive and wait a few seconds for the drive tray to open. Remove Recovery Console from the optical drive.
