The Problem: the LaserJet 4000 spits out blank pages; the DeskJet 932C prints extremely slowly, taking about 5 minutes to print a draft that normally takes about 5 seconds.
Hardware: Compaq Presario PC SR5710F
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium
Error message: None
Changes to the System: the problem occurred suddenly – one day Ok, next day not – and was noted after an automatic update from Microsoft titled: “Device Driver Package Install; Microsoft Network Protocol.”
What I have done:
1. Thinking that the automatic update caused the problem, using System Restore, I restored my computer to a date prior to the automatic update. This did not work.
2. I then ran the Hardware Diagnostics that came with the computer and that gave me an Alert for Microsoft 6to4 Adapter #5. I went to the Microsoft community; two replies both said to delete and reinstall this component. This did not work. When informed of this, one of the advisors said that the 6to4 Adapter was probably not the cause of the printer problem and suggested the following:
“HP or Windows Updates could have changed the driver or the drivers could have become corrupted. So those possibilities have to be checked and the driver re-installed.
The Clean Boot method will help to check if something else is affecting the print operation which is possible. However you need to update the print driver first. And also ask HP Support and their forums in case there is a known issue with a known solution.”
So, are there any known issues with either of these printers, drivers, driver updates, etc.?
Thanks.
