Audio skipping with HP ProBook 4535s

I have the latest HP audio drivers installed (IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver 6.10.6367.0).

The sound is skipping for shorts amounts of time every 10-15 seconds or so.

It happens when music is played, games are played etc.

The skipping kind of sounds like distortion.

Latest video drivers are also installed, and Windows Update is showing no more updates.

Any ideas?

Hi:

Do you have the HP Power Assistant installed?

If so, uninstall it and see if the problem goes away.

If it does and for some reason you like the Power Assistant, then reinstall the earliest version available from your notebook's support and driver page, and never update it (at least until a few more revisions down the line which may fix the problem).

I removed it and installed the older 2.0.6.0 and the sound is now fixed.

Unusual cause to the problem!

It definitely was, and if you do a search on the forum, this issue was perplexing dozens of 4530s and 4535s users for quite some time.

So, I'm glad I was pretty sure I knew what the culprit was, and how to fix it.
