Hi:
Unless you had some kind of static discharge or you physically damaged the GPU chip when you installed the memory, it is either coincidental that the video chip went out or perhaps something happened to the driver.
Try reinstalling the graphics driver.
This is the most current version from Intel if you have XP on your d530.

Hi:
I put a nVidia GeForce 6200 128 MB card in one of mine, and also a Radeon 9600 128 MB card in another one I had.
They have to be AGP video cards.
You probably could go to 256 MB memory for those cards.
You should be able to find used but tested and working ones on eBay.
