Best CPU Upgrade for s5202uk

Hello,

I have recently upgraded my graphics card in my HP S5202UK-M and wondered what's the best CPU that'll work in this PC, the Motherboard is a Pegatron M2N78-LA Narra 6 with bios version 5.22 i think this is the latest, a link if it isnt to updating it, I read online somewhere, the latest bios update adds support to the AMD Phenom X6, i just wondered if this was true as the motherboard specs on HP website says only Phenom X4 supported

Hi,

These are the motherboard specifications for the s5202uk.  This motherboard has an AM3 socket rated at 95 watts TDP.

In theory, these AMD processors should work but the bios support for those processors not listed in the motherboard specifications would be unknown.  Know what the return policy is before you buy anything.

What bios level is your PC running and where did you see HP posted support for 6 cores?

Thanks for the reply, I can confirm that it was not HP posted support, but from some website, Do you reckon its worth a shot at trying it out?

Hi,

Typically AMD sockets have very good compatibility.

Know what the return policy is before you buy anything.  If the six core doesn't work, then can you get a refund?  If you can't get a refund then can you exchange it for a different model? Would an exchanged model be satisfactory for your needs?

What would I do?  I would go for it but then my pocketbook might be deeper than yours.
